Meals On Wheels Seeks Volunteers

(Beaver Dam) Meals on Wheels is seeking volunteers to assist with bringing nutritious, well-balanced meals to recently discharged patients, the handicapped, and the homebound elderly.  The Beaver Dam Meals on Wheels program started back in 1973 with ten customers and now serves more than 60 customers who received around 12,900 meals last year, delivered by 140 volunteers. The program assists people in maintaining an independent living atmosphere in the community by meeting their dietary needs along with social networking.  Meals are prepared by the Beaver Dam Community Hospital Food and Nutrition Department, with special diets provided. The customer, a family member, or the county pays for the $4 meal. You can learn more on how to volunteer with Meals on Wheels, by contacting the Volunteer Coordinator through the Beaver Dam Community Hospital, you can contact Volunteer Coordinator Kathy Dries at 920-885-3948.
