Mayville Woman Sentenced For Crashing Into Police Vehicle Under Influence Of Drugs

(Mayville) A Mayville woman will spend a month in jail for crashing into a police vehicle while under the influence of illegal drugs. Cierra Metz was sentenced Monday after pleading no contest last month to misdemeanor Operating Under a Controlled Substance Causing Injury First Offense. In July of 2016, a Mayville squad car was travelling southbound on Walnut Street when a vehicle operated by Metz pulled out from an intersection. The officer attempted to swerve to avoid the crash but ended up colliding with Metz. He was treated at Beaver Dam Hospital with injuries to his neck, back, and head. When questioned by investigators, Metz eyes were glassy and bloodshot. The 20-year-old admitted to smoking marijuana before the crash and taking cocaine the day prior. Metz and her passenger were not injured. She submitted to a voluntary blood draw which tested positive for cocaine and THC. In addition to a month in jail with work release privileges, Metz was placed on probation for two years.
