12/1/17 – The Mayville Police Department is looking into purchasing new security cameras. The camera system also encompasses city hall and it’s exterior. Mayville Police Chief Ryan Vossekuil says there have been problems in obtaining recorded video in the past. He says their system is from 2011 and is outdated compared to current options available today. Vossekuil says several cameras have already been replaced within the building with HD cameras but notes that their system is not HD compatible. The city would go through Martin Security Systems and the estimated cost is roughly $6,700 dollars which would be paid for by unspent funds from the 2017 city budget. The upgrade would include a new camera in the police stations garage for better coverage while prisoners are transported. The topic will be up for a final vote during the next council meeting.
