Mayville Mayor Says Increased Police Presence At High School Will Continue

(Mayville) Mayville Mayor Rob Boelk says that he and Police Chief Ryan Vossekuil are working together to continue to ensure the safety of the students in the city. Last week, the police department and the Mayville School District released a joint statement saying there is no credibility to a “school shooters” threat. Vossekuil said there were several high school students referred to as “school shooters” in social media posts. The matter was investigated and students involved were interviewed. Police did issue a disorderly conduct citation to a 17-year-old Mayville student. The school saw increased police presence over the course of last week and Boelk says it will continue until further notice.
