11/16/17 – Mayville officials are looking into the possibility of creating a lieutenant’s position in the police department. During a joint meeting of the city’s Personnel and Finance committees this week, discussion was held on whether to add the budgeted position. Chief Ryan Vossekuil says hiring a lieutenant would help with the day-to-day operations and would stand as a fill-in while the 15-year veteran of the department was out of office. The goal would be to have whoever is hired work on administrative tasks, patrol duties, and training with fellow officers. The positions annually salary would be $67,200 dollars. The topic will be up for further discussion during the next council meeting.
