Mayville Council Approves New Camera System

12/17/17 – The Mayville Common Council last week approved the replacement of outdated security cameras for the Police Department. The camera system also encompasses city hall and it’s exterior. Mayville Police Chief Ryan Vossekuil says there have been problems in obtaining recorded video in the past. He says their system is from 2011 and is outdated compared to current options available today. Vossekuil says several cameras have already been replaced within the building with HD cameras but notes that their system is not HD compatible. The city will go through Martin Security Systems and the cost is roughly $6,700 which will be paid for by unspent funds from the 2017 city budget. The upgrade would include a new camera in the police stations garage for better coverage while prisoners are transported. The goal is to have the upgrades completed by the end of this month.
