6/27/17 – City officials in Mayville are looking at an incentive-based program for constructing single family homes. The city’s Finance Committee last night discussed a plan to cut a check for $3,000-dollars to anyone who builds a house with a value of $200-thousand dollars or more. The idea behind the program is to boost Mayville’s housing market which saw only four single family homes built in the last six years. Mayor Rob Boelk says there are close to 70 available lots in the city and wants to see more economic growth. The incentives would only go towards existing residential lots meaning any new neighborhood developments would not see the cost break. Boelk says the Committee Development Authority will review the plan before work begins on drafting a resolution.
