Mayville Adopts 2019 Budget

(Mayville) The Mayville Common Council adopted the 2019 city budget Monday night. The document calls for just over $9-million dollars in total expenditures with a tax levy of $2.5 million which is roughly $300-thousand dollars less than last year. The mill rate of $8.76 per one thousand dollars of assessed value is a 16-cent drop from the number home owners saw last year. Mayor Rob Boelk says the tax rate is right where it needs to be and has constantly gone done in recent years. He says the budget has money set aside for beautifying the city as well as a focus on economic development. Boelk says the budget process took longer than usual this year due to four new department heads as well as a new city treasurer. He also thanked the hard work from his staff that helped shape a balanced budget.
