Marshall Girls Basketball wins WIAA Sportsmanship Award

The Marshall Girls Basketball team was chosen as a recipient of the Sportsmanship Award for the 2018 winter State Tournaments. The Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association in cooperation with Rural Mutual Insurance selected the Cardinals based on their faithful modeled good sportsmanship en route to winning the Division 3 championship, the program’s first title in 41 years. This is the second sportsmanship award received by Marshall. The first came in 2000 in boys basketball.

The award is determined by the conduct of sportsmanship displayed by athletes, coaches, cheer and support groups, mascots, bands and spectators. Additional consideration is given for the effort of school administrators and chaperones to ensure support for their teams are positive and the highest ideals of sportsmanship are upheld.  Marshall will receive a plaque and banner in recognition of their honor.

Joining Marshall as 2018 award winners are the Valders boys basketball team, D.C. Everest Co-op in girls hockey, Hudson gymnastics and Ellsworth wrestling.
