12/25/17 – State Representative Mark Born says Wisconsin is a high tax state but recent changes, such as the elimination of the state property tax that home owners had seen in their tax bill, have helped ease the financial burden. He says for Beaver Dam residents there was in increase, due to the school referendum that was approved by voters in the fall 2016, but the state property tax saw a complete reduction of 100-percent. Born says that was something they did during state budget deliberations. He adds that a few individuals have told him that they appreciate that line being eliminated from their taxes. The Beaver Dam Republican says the only downside is that state property tax has usually been the smallest part of the property tax bill.
