(Watertown) Signature bond was set at $5,000 Wednesday for a Madison man charged with burglarizing a Watertown residence. Donald Beran is facing one felony count of Burglary along with two misdemeanor charges of Criminal Damage to Property and Disorderly Conduct. On Saturday, the homeowner informed the Sheriff’s Office that Beran allegedly forced his way inside and started yelling and throwing things. When a deputy arrived, they noticed that the door jam, trim and hasp to the front door had damage and the homeowner said they were missing their address book. Law enforcement as able to reach Beran by phone who allegedly admitted his actions. If convicted, the 60-year-old faces over 15 years in prison. A judge will decide in February if there is enough evidence to order a trial.
