Madison Man Arraigned for Beaver Dam Police Chase

11/10/17 – A Madison man was arraigned Friday on charges he sped away from Beaver Dam police. Al Rahman Goodwin entered a not guilty plea to one count of felony Fleeing or Eluding an Officer as well as misdemeanor Bail Jumping. On October 1, a Beaver Dam officer allegedly clocked Goodwin going 13-miles-per-hour over the posted speed limit. When he attempted to conduct a routine traffic stop, Goodwin reportedly took off at a high rate speed. According to the criminal complaint, the officer was reaching speeds in excess of 100-miles-per-hour while pursuing the 20-year-old. The chase continued until Goodwin struck a parked van which caused the officer’s squad car to collide with the suspect’s vehicle. Goodwin fled on foot but was later apprehended and taken to Beaver Dam Community Hospital.  The officer says the suspects eyes were bloodshot, he smelled of a strong odor of intoxicants and he vomited on himself while in custody. Goodwin refused to submit to a blood test so a warrant was issued and a mandatory blood draw was taken. If convicted, he faces over four years in prison.
