10/25/17 – Unemployment in the region last month was at or below three-percent. According to the state Department of Workforce Development, jobless filings in Dodge County were at 2.6-percent in September, down three-tenths from August. Columbia County was also at 2.6-percent, a drop of two-tenths. Fond du Lac County was down a half-percentage point over the two-month period to 2.5-percent. Washington County was at 2.7-percent while Jefferson County reported a 2.9-percent, both down two-tenths from August. Green Lake County dropped a half-percent to three-percent even. Dane, Green and Iowa counties all tied for the lowest rate in the state at 2.3-percent while Menominee County was the highest at 5.2-percent. The unemployment rate over the past two months decreased or remained the same in 70 of the state’s 72 counties.
