Battle your nerves
Researchers from the University of Waterloo in Ontario found that just 10 minutes of daily mindful meditation can improve focus among people suffering from anxiety. The reason: It helps comb at mind wandering, which is something anxious people tend to suffer from one bad thought leads to many more.

Improve memory
One study assigned a group of older adults to 12 weeks of meditation and yoga practices, and another group to memory-enhancing training. In the end, both groups did a little better on tests of verbal memory like remembering names. But the meditation group showed a bigger change in tests of visual-spatial memory, which is needed for navigating while walking and driving.

Ease back pain
According to a study in the Journal of the American Medical Association, people who attended mindfulness based stress reduction classes, a type of meditation training, were 37 percent more likely to experience less lower back pain compared with people who sought more conventional care like pain medication.
