11/3/17 – The Dodge County Sheriff is asking area residents to help prepare a local park for the holidays. Christmas lights will be strung up all over Swan Park starting at 8:30am Saturday as part of a project from Leadership Beaver Dam. During a recent appearance on WBEV’s Community Comment, Dale Schmidt said his groups fundraising efforts have been successful. He says there has been a great response from the community and when all is said and done they will have close to $7,500 invested in the light display. Schmidt says there will also be an opportunity to donate a local food pantry as well. Representatives from the pantry will be in the park on Friday and Saturday evenings from 6pm until 9pm collecting non-perishable food items near the concession stand at the northeast corner of the park. The lights will be turned on the day after Thanksgiving and will stay up until early January. Schmidt says anyone willing to brave the cold to help taking the lights down is encouraged to volunteer. The group plans to put up a bigger display next year.
