Lavina Schelter

Lavina Hazel Schelter, age 80 of Waupun, went to her heavenly home to spend eternity with her husband, on Wednesday, February 14, 2018, at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac.

Lavina was born on January 10, 1938, in Brownsville, WI, a daughter to Frederick and Ellen (Moon) Makus. On December 11, 1965, she was united in marriage to William “Phillip” Schelter in Waupun at the United Methodist Church. Lavina was a member of United Methodist Church and very active in various committees. She was on the church council, Rachel Circle, church choir and played the organ.   Lavina was a member, past president and treasurer of the Oakfield Lions Club. She worked at the Bank of Oakfield for 40+ years.  Her favorite past times included bowling and traveling with family and friends.  Lavina was an avid Packer and Daniel O’Donnell fan.

Lavina is survived by her daughter, Vicki (Tim) Schelter-Steinhardt of Fond du Lac and step-daughter, Linda (Bill) Walker of Waupun; two grandsons, Billy (Jill) Walker and Dano (Renee) Walker; great grandchildren, Xander, Ruby, Griffon, Max and Stella; brother, Ken Makus of Appleton; grand dog, Daisy and her Packer friends, Chris Jacke and George Koonce; special friends, Joan Ryan, Natalie Basty and Diane Kuslits; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Phil Schelter in 1995; parents; three brothers-in-law, DuWayne (Judie) Schelter, Joseph Jr. Schelter and Norm (Patricia) Graff; three nephews, Jeff Graff, Kevin Makus and Jimmy Schelter.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 18, 2018, from 3:00 to 6:00 P.M. at Kohls Community Funeral Home, 405 West Main Street, Waupun and on Monday, February 19, 2018, from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. at United Methodist Church, 199 East Jefferson Street, Waupun.

A funeral service for Lavina will be held on Monday, February 19, 2018, at 11:00 A.M. at church with Pastor Deb Hastings officiating. Burial will take place at Avoca Cemetery.

The family has designated the Lions Club, Fond du Lac Humane Society and Waupun United Methodist Church for memorial contributions.
