Kenosha Man Enters Plea In 1990 Fond du Lac Slaying

(Fond du Lac)  The Kenosha trucker suspected of killing 18-year-old Berit Beck in Fond du Lac in July of 1990, who’s body was found in Waupun, has pled to a second degree reckless homicide charge. Dennis Brantner entered an Alford plea Friday morning in Fond du Lac County Court. The plea is not an admission of guilt, but acknowledges that if tried he would likely be found guilty. After the hearing Berit’s mother, Diane Beck, told reporters, she had just about given up. She said at 27 ½ years it is something I had actually given up on. I didn’t think we would ever see resolve with this case and I’m so thankful for all of them for pursuing it. She thanked the investigators and prosecutors who worked on the case over the years. The 64-year-old Brantner will be sentenced on March 1.
