Juneau In Process Of Creating New TIF District

(Juneau) City officials in Juneau are in the process of dissolving a Tax Increment Finance District and creating a new one. MSA Professional Services was recently hired by the common council for $16-thousand dollars to assemble the Professional Services Agreement to establish TIF #4, which would be located on the southwest side of the city in a footprint similar to that of TIF #2, which is reaching the end of its life. Mike Laue with MSA told the council that the plan is to have the new TIF finalized by the end of next month to allow the city to lock-in property values as of January 1st of this year. If the city waits until next year, Laue they would not be able to capture the $250-thousand dollars in increment that is estimated to be generated by the new Farmers and Merchants Bank being constructed near the Piggly Wiggly.
