John R. Carnes, 64, of Beaver Dam passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Friday, March 2, 2018 at the UW Hospital in Madison.

A Celebration of John’s Life will be held 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 8th at the Koepsell-Murray Funeral Home, N7199 N. Crystal Lake Road, Beaver Dam with Pastor Ryan Foldhazi officiating.  A visitation will be held prior from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

John was born on May 20, 1953, the son of Uel Fray and Inez (Brooks) Carnes in Red Bay, AL.  He was a proud 1971 graduate of Red Bay High School in Alabama.  On February 25, 1989, he was united in marriage to Jeneen Banker in Beaver Dam.

John was very kind, personable and enjoyed meeting and making friends wherever he went.  He was passionate and very talented in his career in floral and interior design.  While employed in the floral industry, John served as president of the Wisconsin TeleFlora Board.  He was an active and faithful member of Focus Church in Sun Prairie. John was very blessed to have been able to go on the K-Love Cruise in January with his wife, Jeneen, to celebrate their 29th wedding anniversary.  He also treasured his opportunity to meet, hold and love his newest granddaughter, Paislee, who was born February 9th.  John, “Papa”, spent every moment he could with his little Jaycey, who was the light of his world and the reason he stayed strong for so long.

John will be deeply missed and is survived by his wife Jeneen, of Beaver Dam; his son Jonathan Carnes (Amanda Clarke); his daughter Bethany Carnes of Grafton; his grandchildren: Jaycey, Blake, Brooklyn, Jonathan, Makenzi, Trinity and Paislee; his six sisters: Elois Crowder, AL, Barbara McDowell, MS, Carolyn Thorn, AL, Janie (Rick) Bjork, AL, Charolette (Oneal) Funderburk, MS and Brenda Purser, AL; his father and mother-in-law Carroll and Margaret Banker, brothers-in-law: Terry, Steve, Mark and Matthew Banker; sisters-in-law Dawn Welte (Paul Gray) and Linda (Jim) Muller.  He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Euel Carnes, brothers-in-law, Billy Ray McDowell and Ray Crowder, sister-in-law Linda Pat Banker and niece Heather Porter.
