Iron Ridge Man Sentenced To Prison For Stealing Neighbors Car

(Iron Ridge) An Iron Ridge man was sentenced to three years in prison Monday for breaking into his neighbors’ house and stealing their car. Thomas Kurt entered an Alford plea in December to felony Burglary. A second felony charge of Operating a Vehicle Without the Owner’s Consent was dismissed but read into the record. In April of 2016, the 36-year-old took the car keys from his neighbors’ home.  The homeowners called police about the missing vehicle, which was located that afternoon in Milwaukee by the sheriff’s office after Kurt blew a tire on the interstate.  Stemming from that incident, Kurt was convicted in Milwaukee County on charges of Operating with a Restricted Controlled Substance and Possession of a Firearm as a Convicted Felon, as he had a weapon on him at the time.  In addition to prison, Kurt will be placed on extended supervision for three years.
