The Marshladies defeated Thorp 11-0 to claim the programs third-ever Division 4 State Championship on June 9. Mayor Jim Grigg read from a proclamation honoring the team’s achievements and marks June 30, 2018 as Horicon High School Girls’ Softball Champions Day. The proclamation also reads that the young women, who by achieving outstanding success in athletic competition, have inspired and brought pride to the city. Grigg says the championship run has had an impact on the local community and school pride. He says there was a large number of residents who wore the school colors orange and black during the team’s celebratory parade. While there were no team representatives on hand at last night’s meeting to accept the proclamation, Grigg says the city will meet with players and coaches in the near future.
