(Horicon) A Horicon man facing felony child abuse charges posted bond Friday. A Columbia County judge this week granted a request to reduce the $75-thousand-dollar cash bond for Jesse Crouse down to $10-thousand dollars. The 36-year-old allegedly inflicted what the district attorney referred to as “profound” injuries to a four-year-old child who is expected to have lifelong impairments. The criminal complaint quotes a doctor as citing damage to the brain and genitalia. The injuries to his girlfriend’s child occurred in Columbus in March while the mother was at work. When she got home, she discovered the child was acting totally different, had trouble walking, lost his balance, slept more than usual and was vomiting. Crouse reportedly told her that the child fell out of a bunk bed. Crouse faces up to 46 years in prison, if he is convicted. A three-day jury trial in on the calendar in July of next year.
