History Of Beaver Dam Lake Program At Community Library

(Beaver Dam) A presentation on the history of the Beaver Dam Lake has been postponed until April 2nd because of inclement weather.

Local historian Roger Noll will discuss the establishment of the initial dam and its use for powering industry, the near loss of the lake and efforts to maintain it over the years. Noll says the body of water is the sixth largest manmade lake in the state. Noll says in the early 1900’s steam powered excursion boats would take locals and tourists to resorts that were located on the islands. He says those resorts lasted until the 1940’s.

The presentation will get underway at 6pm on Tuesday, April 2 in the basement of the Beaver Dam library and begins with a half hour film of the construction of the old St. Patrick School, which is now the new Beaver Dam Area Community Theatre’s Fine Arts Center.
