(Fond du Lac) Motorists traveling on Highway 23 between Rosendale and Fond du Lac will no longer have to take a detour, even though the project is not done yet. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation Northeast Region office says the road is open to traffic as of today. However, resurfacing of the highway will continue until October. During resurfacing operations, the street will remain open to traffic using lane closures and flagging as needed. The road had been closed and detoured since July 9. The Highway 23 project includes resurfacing and overlay of the existing bridge over the Fond du Lac River. Other work includes concrete pavement repair and replacement, culvert pipe replacements, sidewalk and curb ramp replacement, storm sewer repairs, signing, and pavement marking.
