Harlan “Herb” H. Klinge

Harlan “Herb” H. Klinge, age 79 of Beaver Dam, passed away on Thursday, May 23, 2019 at the VA Hospital in Madison.

Herb was born on November 17, 1939 in Dalton, NE, the son of Herbert and Esther (Smith) Klinge. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps in Vietnam as a Electrical Engineer and Missle Specialist from 1962-1966. On August 10, 1968 he was united in marriage to Joyce Steinhauer. A lover of racing and working on cars, Herb owned Westside Service Center in Madison for several years and was on a pit crew with his friends Jim, Buck, Kerry, and Bruce. After moving to Three Lakes, he worked at a machine shop as well. Herb was an avid Brewers fan and also enjoyed watching his grandson, Adam play baseball for his high school team, the Golden Beavers. A special thanks to coach, Nate Wilke and his teammates for having Adam’s back during this hard time. Herb loved animals and was also a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam.

Harlan is survived by his wife, Joyce Klinge of Beaver Dam; daughter, Debbie (Jody) Chase of Beaver Dam; son, Chris Klinge of Madison; grandson, Adam Chase; 6 nephews and 1 niece; and further survived by other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Esther; brother, Doug Klinge; sisters, Vernie (Don), Delores (Frank), and Evelyn (Jack); and other relatives.

A memorial gathering for Harlan will be held on Friday, May 31, 2019 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1310 N. Center St., Beaver Dam from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Colin Vanderhoof officiating. A luncheon will be served immediately after at the church. Inurnment for Harlan will take place at St. Paul’s Liberty Lutheran Cemetery in Deerfield at a later date.
