(Columbia County) Last month’s gun-deer season will not be the safest on record but tied for it. DNR Secretary Dan Meyer said Wednesday a previously unreported injury to a hunter took place in Bayfield County. That brings the number of injuries for the season to four, tied with 2014 for the lowest number ever. No one was killed during the hunt. A hunter was injured in Columbia County on the second day of the nine-day gun deer season. The state DNR said at the time that the 23-year-old male was shot in the foot in the Town of Marcellon. The victim was shot by a 24-year-old member of his hunting party, who was aiming for a running deer.
