(Green Lake) The Green Lake County Sheriff’s Office rescued five individuals from Big Green Lake Sunday afternoon. At 3:15pm emergency 911 services received multiple reports of a sinking water craft. When authorities arrived three males and two females from Appleton and Fond du Lac were removed from the 1983 Sylvan, all were uninjured. The press release said that two people were in the water at the time of the rescue but did not indicate who. The boat was towed to shore where it was turned over the owner and DNR Warden for investigation to figure out why the craft began taking on water. Assisting at the scene were the Princeton Fire Department Water Rescue, Wisconsin DNR Warden, Berlin/Green Lake Ambulance Service and numerous citizens who provided immediate assistance on scene. Green Lake County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Mark Putzke reminds boaters to follow all safety rules and regulations while on the water such as wearing personal flotation devices, knowing the proper operation of their vessel and the capacity rating.
