7/20/17 – Beaver Dam Mayor Becky Glewen is using the Cooper Street project as a catalyst to call together state officials and local stakeholders upstream and downstream from Beaver Dam Lake. Glewen says she put together a recent meeting with the Department of Natural Resources personnel, the Beaver Dam Lake Improvement Association and the Fox Lake Town Chair along with Fox Lake’s dam operator. She says the meetings are meant to “hammer out” shared challenges like river and lake levels, seasonal fish kills and general lake health. Glewen told the city’s Operations Committee this week that the health of the lake and river also has a direct effect on her downtown revitalization efforts. She says the local waterways will be a topic of continuing conversation with local and state officials going forward.
