Garbage Truck Collision Near Green Lake Leaves One Dead

(Green Lake) One person is dead following a near head-on crash on Highway A near the City of Green Lake Monday morning. Emergency responders arrived on scene around 7:45am following reports that a garbage truck and a pick-up truck collided. The preliminary investigation shows that a 2014 Dodge truck operated by a 27-year-old man from Ludington, Michigan was traveling north on Highway A. The truck then crossed the centerline and into the path of a south-bound 2018 Mack refuse truck. The 27-year-old was removed from his vehicle with extrication equipment and was transported by helicopter to a trauma center in the Fox Valley where he later died. A passenger in the Dodge truck suffered non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the garbage truck was not injured and was identified as a 44-year-old man from Beaver Dam. The name of the deceased will be released sometime Tuesday. Assisting at the scene was the Green Lake/Brooklyn Fire/Rescue and First Responders, Green Lake County Emergency Medical Services and Paramedic Unit, City of Green Lake Police, Green Lake County Sheriff’s Office, and Wisconsin State Patrol. This crash remains under investigation by the Green Lake Sheriff’s Office and the Wisconsin State Patrol.
