(Juneau) A Fox Lake murder suspect has found new legal counsel. Laverne Ware Jr. has hired attorneys Aneeq Ahmad and Jennifer Severino. The two new lawyers increase the total number of attorneys who have at one point handled Ware’s case to nine. Since February of last year Ware has gone through six dismissals and changes in representation, with one attorney being hired and then fired twice. Ahmad and Severino were unable to attend a hearing Monday due to travel concerns. Judge Brian Pfitzinger said he wants the case to stay on track so a telephone conference was scheduled for this Friday with Ware’s new representation. If Ware had been unable to retain counsel Pfitzinger said the court would have appointed one for him or it would have considered that Ware has waived his right to attorney. The 37-year-old is accused of murdering his girlfriend and first cousin, Sesalie Dixon, in December of 2016. The 27-year-old was found in the cab of Ware’s pick-up truck inside a Fox Lake garage with a gunshot wound to the head. A two-week jury trial is slated to begin in mid-September.
