Fox Lake Group Looking To Revitalize Local Park

(Fox Lake) A Fox Lake citizen’s group is looking for community support in their efforts to improve a local park. The Crocker Street Park Renewal Project has partnered with the City of Fox Lake to revitalize the park with the goal of providing a safe place for children to play. Organizer Shannon Keach says the current playground equipment, which was installed in 1998, is no longer safe for children to play on and is starting to deteriorate. She says some will stay in place but the outdated playground will be replaced with newer equipment. Keach says they also plan on adding new benches, a sign, trees and plants. The non-profit group is hoping to raise $35-thousand dollars to renew the park. Keach says they want to recognize three individuals at the park who have passed away. She says they have already received donations in memory of former Mayor Gerald “Moose” Mullin, Fox Lake business owner Gary Ballweg and previous Fox Lake Library Director Paula Torgeson. She says the group wants to put up signage and park benches in their honor. Keach says individuals wishing to make a donation greater than $1,000 dollars will also be acknowledged at the park. The Crocker Street Park Renewal Team has established a GoFundMe page at www.gofundme.com/crocker-street-park-update. Those interested in donating can also drop off monetary offerings at Fox Lake City Hall’s Community Recreation Fund – Crocker Street Park designation or call Project Coordinator Becky Bussian at 920-210-4958.
