Former Fox Lake Corrections Officer Charged With Smuggling Contraband

12/5/17 – A former Fox Lake Correctional officer accused of smuggling contraband to an inmate made her initial appearance in court Monday. Peggy Noll of Watertown is facing one felony count of Delivering Illegal Articles to an Inmate. In September of 2016, a confidential informant told officers that a prisoner was in possession of a cell phone. Over the course of the investigation, several months’ worth of food and clothing items unavailable to inmates were located in the prisoner’s cell. Investigators were able to identify Noll’s voice from phone conversations with the inmate. In talking with officers, Noll denied bringing in any contraband and said (quote), “nothing happened here.” If convicted, the 58-year-old faces up to three-and-a-half-years in prison. Signature bond was set at $1,000 dollars and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for January 25.
