Fond du Lac Firefighters Rescue Bees

7/26/17 – Around 20-thousand honey bees have a new home thanks to the Fond du Lac Fire Department. Firefighters responded to a call for help from an apartment manager Monday. The bees had swarmed onto several branches in a tree on Donahue Court. Five of the department’s personnel are bee keepers and are trained to move bee swarms. The bees were initially taken to private keeping facilities out of town. Assistant Fire Chief Jim Knowles says they did not move the bee box the bees were transferred to until nightfall.
