(Juneau) The Republican-backed middle-class tax cut bill has passed the State Legislature. The bill would use a current budget surplus to pay for the annual 340-million-dollar tax cut. State Senator Scott Fitzgerald is urging the governor to sign the bill. The Juneau Republican says with the state budget running a surplus, the state can afford to return money to hard-working Wisconsin families. Governor Evers may veto the bill, having said the Republican tax cut plan is unsustainable. He is expected to propose his own tax cut in his budget proposal, funding some of it with a cap on a manufacturing tax credit.
