(Waupun) Waupun emergency services will be conducting a fire drill exercise in the secured unit of the Waupun Correctional Institution on Monday (July 2). The drill will allow the Waupun Police and Fire Departments, the Department of Corrections and Waupun Memorial Hospital staff the opportunity to review their fire emergency practices. The drill will utilize manikins to simulate transporting a body with med sleds down stairwells. No inmates will be involved during the drill. Waupun Fire Chief BJ DeMaa says it is important to review and practice the pre-plans they have in place for the larger target hazards within the city. Waupun Memorial Hospital Emergency Preparedness Coordinator Patty Walgenbach says the drill will enhance employee knowledge of what is done during an unexpected fire and how to collaborate with community partners to ensure everyone’s safety. The fire drill will take place during the evening hours on Monday.
