9/2/17 – Fire destroyed a shed and heavily damaged a garage and storage shed in the Town of Clyman yesterday. Crews responded to N4040 Welsh Road shortly before noon after reports that a shed was on fire. Clyman Fire Chief Eric Howlett says when they arrived the first shed was leveled and the fire had spread to the nearby garage and storage shed. The flames were contained to the southernmost section of that second structure which sustained heavy fire and water damage. One of the owner’s collector cars was salvaged during the operation. There were no injuries. Howlett says the cause of the fire remains under investigation but the property owner had confirmed that he was burning debris and the wind had switched directions. The fire chief cautions those burning debris to keep in mind that what may start as a small fire can change quickly and get out of control in a matter of seconds. Clyman Fire was assisted at the scene by firefighters from Reeseville, Lowell, Juneau, Beaver Dam, Hustisford, Horicon, Woodland, Watertown, Waterloo, Lebanon, Neosho and Ixonia along with Juneau and Watertown EMS, the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office and the Dodge County Emergency Response Team.
