10/30/17 – Fire damaged the Subway restaurant in Waupun Monday morning. Crews responded to the business on Shaler Drive around 9:15am. Waupun Fire Chief BJ DeMaa says owner Mindy Wild noticed smoke filling the structure and called authorities. DeMaa says when crews arrived at the scene there was an active fire with smoke and flames visible above the drop-ceiling in the back area of the kitchen.  It took firefighters approximately a half-hour to put out the blaze and a couple hours to determine that no flames had extended further into the structure. Fire, smoke and water damage was contained to the kitchen and attic areas. No injuries were reported and no patrons were in the restaurant at the time. The business is closed until further notice.
