8/5/17 – One person was killed and two people were injured in a two-vehicle accident yesterday morning in Fond du Lac County. The wreck occurred on Highway 151 between Waupun and the city of Fond du Lac in the Town of Oakfield at 10:19am. The Wisconsin State Patrol says an 89-year-old West Bend man was northbound on Wolf Road when he failed to yield the right of way from a stop sign at the intersection with Highway 151 and was struck by a northbound vehicle. EMS attempted lifesaving measures but the West Bend man died at the scene. The 33-year-old Waupun man driving the other vehicle, along with his passenger – a 27-year-old Waupun woman – both sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to Waupun Memorial Hospital. An infant in their vehicle, who was properly restrained in a child safety seat, was not injured but was transported for evaluation due to the seriousness of the crash. One lane of southbound Highway 151 was blocked for over two hours while the scene was cleared; the northbound lanes were not affected. The State Patrol is investigating the crash and was assisted by the Fond du Lac Sheriff’s Department, the Town of Oakfield Fire Department, the Fond du Lac Fire Department Ambulance, and Lifestar Ambulance.
