Endangered Bird Topic Of Horicon Bird Club Presentation

11/12/17 – The Horicon Marsh Bird Club is hosting a speaker on an endangered bird this week. UW-Green Bay Researcher Tom Prestby will be discussing the Piping Plover on Thursday. The small shorebird was listed as endangered in 1986 when biologists estimated the species had less than 20 breeding pairs. In his talk, Prestby will discuss the habitat restoration that encouraged the endangered bird to once again use the area to breed as well as continuing efforts to help increase the breeding pairs of Piping Plovers in the Great Lakes region. The program starts at 7pm and will be held in the lower level of the Horicon Marsh Education and Visitor Center located on N7725, between Horicon and Mayville on Highway 28.
