Dumpster Fire Causes Evacuation At Meadow View Primary School In Waupun

(Waupun) The Waupun Fire Department was called to a dumpster fire Wednesday afternoon at the Meadow View Primary School. Shortly after 1pm, crews arrived at 601 Grandview Avenue to fire coming from an exterior dumpster located near the newly constructed gymnasium on the north side of the school. Fire Chief BJ DeMaa says firefighters quickly knocked down the fire, preventing it from reaching the nearby building. Suppression efforts and overhaul operations took roughly one hour. DeMaa says as a precaution, students and staff were evacuated until the fire was extinguished. No injuries were reported and there was no damage to the school. DeMaa says the initial investigation shows that the fire was started from improper disposal of finishing materials from the gymnasium floor. Assisting at the scene was the Waupun Police Department.
