7/22/17 – There is rapidly growing sport making its way through Dodge County. Drone racing pits pilots who remotely steer the quad copters through a variety of different obstacles. A small camera is fixed to the device and the driver wears goggles to see what the drone sees. Bladed Fury, which was started three years ago, is one of Wisconsin’s first drone racing chapters. Member and organizer Mike Fredricks says most drones are built from kits but they can also be purchased ready to go. He says they mostly come with a drone, a transmitter, a pair of goggles, and everything else on would need. While the starter units work well enough, Fredricks says most people outgrow them. Fredricks says the chapter is always welcoming new people in and will help get their gear working for them. There is a drone race scheduled for today between 3 to 5pm. It will take place in an open field near Floral Expressions in Juneau on Prospect Road. There is no fee to attend and the public is welcomed.
