Downtown Redevelopment Plan Firm Hired

7/18/17 – The Beaver Dam Common Council Monday night approved the hiring of a firm to assemble a Downtown Redevelopment Plan. The $23-thousand-dollar request for professional services to develop the study and conceptual drawings were brought to the council by the city’s new mayor. Becky Glewen says MKM Architecture and Design of Fort Wayne, Indiana is the right firm to help map out her vision of the downtown. The resolution was adopted with three dissenting votes. Opponents cited the city’s procurement policy which recommends obtaining three different bids for expenditures between $5000 and $25-thousand dollars. The study will get underway next month and will be paid for with money from TIF 6, which is in the downtown redevelopment district.
