Donations Sought For Expansion Of Beaver Dam Veterans Center

(Beaver Dam) The Beaver Dam American Legion is looking to expand their home. The chapter began saving for the addition shortly after occupying the building located on 300 Beichl Avenue in 2006. The new space will add over 1,600 square feet onto the existing structure.

Project Manager and Legion Member Bob Koch says the addition will create more office space which is much needed, a new conference room and more storage space. The project will expand the west side of the building 20 feet to accommodate the new office and storage space as well as create room for a larger bar area.

Koch says while the Legion has been saving for the past 12 years they are still looking for monetary donations from other members and the community to cover the estimated $175,000 project cost. He says they would also accept in-kind donations to help with some interior work once the outside shell is up and the roof is covered. Koch noted that they have already seen tremendous support from local businesses and contractors who have donated their products and labor.

Work is scheduled to begin in May and Koch says the goal is to have everything completed sometime next spring. For more information you can contact the Beaver Dam American Legion at 920-887-7777.
