12/18/17 – Donations are being accepted for an annual holiday event that provides a Christmas dinner to Dodge County families in-need. The Beaver Dam Elks Lodge is once again holding its Christmas Basket Program, this year it’s on the morning of December 23rd. Event Chairman Rob Radig says roughly 550 baskets will be assembled and delivered to families throughout Dodge County. Radig says the program typically serves 2,500 individuals each year. He says people are needed to both pack the boxes on the assembly line and deliver the boxes. Radig says each box is filled with meal essentials including chicken, potatoes, vegetables, fruit, bread, milk, butter and desserts.
While local law enforcement agencies and organizations deliver some of the baskets, Radig says drivers are needed to make deliveries in Beaver Dam. He encourages those volunteer packers to show up around 8am and volunteer drivers to arrive around 9am. Radig says all the deliveries should be made by late-morning and says anyone who helps can join the Elks for lunch at St. Katherine Drexel’s Parish Center. The deliveries will take place on a different day than it is traditionally held. Anytime Christmas Eve falls on a Sunday the Elks deliver the meals on that Saturday, which is the case this year. Radig says donations are always accepted for the food basket program.
