Dodge County Sheriff Warns Drivers About Stop Signs

8/30/17 – With the recent increase in deadly accidents in Dodge County, Sheriff Dale Schmidt is reminding motorists to drive safe behind the wheel. So far, 11 people have died on Dodge County roadways in 2017. Schmidt says one common theme has been stop sign violations. He says these crashes that are occurring are not the “slow-n-goes” but are instances where people blow through the stop signs at highway speeds a majority of the time. He says drivers must be defensive when approaching an intersection. Schmidt says his staff will be targeting stop sign violators to hammer the point home that stops signs are important and people can get hurt. Schmidt says drivers must break the “tunnel vision” and be aware of other motorists.
