Schmidt Defeats Primary Challenger In Dodge County Sheriff’s Race

(Juneau) Dodge County Sheriff Dale Schmidt was elected to a second, four-year term on Tuesday. Schmidt withstood a challenge from a lieutenant in his department, Jim Ketchem. Schmidt secured 6,683 votes compared to 5,382 for Ketchem, a 55-percent to 45-percent split. Schmidt will appear as the Republican candidate on the November ballot; there will be no Democrat on the ballot. Unless there is a successful write-in campaign in the general election, Schmidt will be sworn-in to the position in January.
