2/1/17 – Dodge County is one step closer to having a new corporation counsel. The three candidates for the vacancy introduced themselves at a special Dodge County Board meeting last night. Kimberly Nass currently serves as the corporation counsel in neighboring Washington County. Nass calls the position one of general practice and is intrigued by handling a variety of legal issues. Zev Kianovsky has been one of Dodge County’s assistant corporation counsels since 1997. Kianovsky believes he has the flexibility and ability to quickly learn new area of law that would help the county board further its goals while addressing new challenges that may arise. Green Lake County’s corporation counsel Dawn Klockow is the third candidate. Klockow believes trust and communication between the corporation counsel and county executives is important to work together in finding practical solutions to various issues. After the meet and greet, county officials held closed door interviews with all three candidates. The county’s executive committee is expected to discuss, and possibly vote on, the position at its meeting on Monday. The opening was created when longtime corporation counsel John Corey retired at the end of 2016.
