Dodge County Fair’s 56th Annual Meat Animal Auction A Success

(Beaver Dam) Despite heavy rain, the Farm Progress Arena was packed for Thursday night’s 56th Annual Meat Animal Auction at the Dodge County Fair.

In the Market Beef Auction Braydon Lewke of Juneau sold his Champion Beef for $6.50 a pound to Crop Production Services. Autumn Rennhack of Watertown had the Champion Dairy Beef which went for $3.25 a pound to Universal Co-op. Addison Lewke of Juneau had the Reserve Champion Beef which went for $4.75 a pound to Jerry Tierney. Michaela Guenther of Juneau got $3.00 a pound from Wondra Construction for the Reserve Champion Diary Beef.

The Market Lamb auction followed the beef. Waupun’s Emily Schwanke got $13.50 a pound from Waupun Veterinary Services for her Sale Champion Homebred Lamb, while Kolten Blome of Watertown also got $13.50 for his Sale Reserve Champion Homebred Lamb from Animix. Kraus Grain Farms bought a Reserve Champion Market Lamb for $6.00 per pound from Beaver Dam’s Anthony Kuenzi, while Maddie Garbalagtys of Beaver Dam sold a Sale Reserve Champion Market Lamb to Maas Brothers Construction for $6.00 a pound.

The Market Hogs finished off the auction as Matthew Kohl of Waterloo got $6.00 a pound from CJ Haase Vet for his Sale Grand Champion Barrow. The Grand Champion Gilt, brought by Harmony Henschel of Reeseville, went for $7.00 a pound to Pernat Haase Meats. Kelly Braun of Beaver Dam had the Sale Reserve Champion Barrow which sold at $4.00 a pound to Truck Country. The highlight of the night came when Kelsie Bos of Waupun sold her Reserve Champion Gilt for $11.50 a pound to Hoekstra’s Market and Greenhouse which drew applause from the crowd in attendance.
