Dodge County Emergency Management Department Awarded Mitigation Grant

(Juneau) The Dodge County Emergency Department was recently awarded with a hazard mitigation planning update grant. The goal of the grant is to reduce or eliminate the long-term risk to human life and property from hazards. Dodge County Emergency Management Deputy Director Joe Meagher says they will achieve that goal by creating a plan, which will serve as a roadmap that outlines potential cost-effective hazard mitigation activities which could open up avenues for future funding opportunities. Meagher says the plan is designed to look at the risks and vulnerabilities that the county faces from natural disasters and to highlight mitigation strategies that reduce future losses. As part of the process, Meagher will be assembling a workgroup to review and guide the planning activities. Meagher says that he is excited about the input from the workgroup that can have long-lasting impacts in making Dodge County safer and more disaster resistant.
