Dodge County Detective Encourages Parents To Watch Trafficking Video

(Juneau) County officials are recommending an online resource for those who are concerned that a loved one may be involved with sex trafficking. Available through the Homeland Security website, the Blue Campaign is intended to raise awareness about human trafficking through multi-agency partnerships meant to teach the public how to recognize and report instances of human trafficking. Dodge County Sheriff’s Office Detective Vicki Brugger says there is a video series called ‘Ericka’ that shows how a susceptible youth can get caught up in sex trafficking. Brugger says the series can be shown to teens but encourages parents to pre-screen it first before doing so. During a recent appearance on WBEV’s Community Comment, Brugger says devising a plan with your child is important and that there needs to be a designated person in the family a child can talk to. The Blue Campaign also offers training for law enforcement agencies and other organizations to increase detection and investigation of human trafficking in order to protect victims.
